Justine embraced life through her passions: keeping up with family, reveling in games with loved ones, immersing herself in literature and word games, worshiping the Lord, and humbly living her faith through love. She was an engaged and adoring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was “grandma” to not only her own descendants, but also to everyone in her reach.
A lifelong librarian and dedicated volunteer, Justine daily served and cared for those around her, recognizing and sharing the goodness in everyone. Into her 90s, she selflessly chauffeured elderly friends on errands. Justine lived independently, actively serving her church until her passing at 99.
Born on March 27, 1924, in Memphis, Tennessee, Justine met her husband at her mother's boarding house, marrying before his service in World War II. Relocating to Florida in 1956, they settled with their two children in St. Petersburg, becoming committed members of Azalea Baptist Church for 64 years (1960-2024).
Justine was predeceased by her husband Marshall Tucker Sr., brother Hugh Perkins, and granddaughter Kristin Tucker. She is survived by her children Marilyn Arnold and Marshall Tucker (Jackie), grandchildren Kimberly Wright (Marcus), Kevin Tucker (Amanda), and Kara Tucker (Dani); and great-grandchildren, Katie Wright, Melody Higuera (Nicholas), Brayden Tucker, and Rylan Tucker.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 9, at 3:00 pm at Azalea Baptist Church. Her burial preceded the service at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo.
In honoring Justine's memory, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Azalea Baptist Church.
