Joseph Ryan Rasor, age 31, passed away at his home in Eugene, Oregon on April 21, 2017. Joseph is formerly from Seminole, Florida. Joseph graduated from Indian Rocks Christian School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Safety Administration from St. Petersburg College. He attended the University of South Florida graduate program in Public Administration. Joe is survived by his mother, Carol Rasor-Cordero, father Stephen Rasor, sister Erin Rasor, stepfather Leo Cordero and stepmother Melicia Rasor.
Joseph served six years with distinction as a U.S. Marine with the 3rd Battalion 24th Marines. He served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. His MOS included Logistics Vehicle Systems Operator, Machine Gunner, Combat Marksmanship Trainer and Combat Marksmanship Coach. Joe was awarded the Navy and Marines Corps Achievement Medal (2), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1), NATO Medal (1), Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M device (1), Iraq Campaign Medal (1), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (1), and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (1). He worked as a contractor for L3 Communications and was deployed to Afghanistan to serve as a Combat Marksmanship Coach to train the Afghan military. Joe was an entrepreneur and with his business partner, Brett Traver established Certified Extracts in Roseburg, Oregon.
A viewing and service will be held at First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, 12685 Ulmerton Road, Largo, Florida 33774, on Tuesday, May 2nd at 0900 with the burial immediately following at The Florida National Cemetery, 6502 Southwest 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida, 33513. Flowers may be sent to First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks.
