John was born May, 27 11936, in Canton OH to George and Victoria Suteu. His brother George still lives with his family in Canton.
He is survived by children Brenda (OR), Victoria (CA), Deanna (ID), Mark (CA), six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren of former wife Jacqueline. He met Mary Elizabeth Shackett-Suteu and asked her; “Are you a good witch or a bad witch,” she replied “I’m not a witch at all.” That is how they knew they were compatible. They were married in 1985 and have daughter Elizabeth Anne and granddaughter Alexis Lynn, all reside in Largo, FL.
John served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1974. He then worked as an electrician until 1984 when he to retire due to vision loss. After that he started volunteering for the VA until he came to Hines VA in IL for rehabilitation. He learned of the vending program and ran his own cafeteria from 1986 to 1990. John left his position to take care of Elizabeth who was diagnosed with Leukemia. After she was in remission he became a “stay-at-home dad” making crepes after school and taking the kids to Petes. The family relocated to Largo, FL in 1996 and still resides there.
John filled his day listening to talk radio, watching slow sports, being with family, and his dogs and cats. He enjoyed watching musicals, drinking wine, singing off tune, celebrations, and trivia games. He thought he looked sharp in his leisure suits and a fresh perm. His favorite movie was Wizard of OZ, he also enjoyed musicals, and would change whatever he was watching as soon as his granddaughter Alexis came into the room to snack with him.
