She was born on March 19, 1931 in Orchard Park, NY to Ruth Lamy and Harry F. Holmwood.
Jody graduated from Heidelberg University and received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
She was married to Donald S. Stanley on September 21, 1963. Donald preceded her in death in June, 2019.
Jody worked as a stewardess out of college for American Airlines, but once she became a mother she welcomed the change to raise for her four children.
She was a lifetime Buffalo Bills fan. She enjoyed participating in a weekly bowling league in which she did for nearly 50 years at Largo Lanes. She was a founding member of the Largo Questers Society that actively sought to protect and preserve local and national history. She served as their National President, coordinating a National Convention held in Orlando, FL. She also volunteered for years with Pinellas County’s Heritage Village/Historical Society in Largo. She actively planned their annual fundraiser “The Jubilee” arts and crafts show until 2011.
She had a passion for animals starting with horses on her father’s farm in Orchard Park, NY and welcomed many dogs and cats into her home over the years.
Jody is survived by her children Ted Stanley, Robert Stanley, Melinda Bailey and Jennifer Vonhof; six grandchildren Amanda Stanley, Robert Stanley, David Stanley, Cameron Vonhof, Connor Vonhof and Lauren Vonhof. Her brother, Mason Holmwood, 96, still lives in Orchard Park, NY. Her sister, Ruth Holmwood preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Serenity Gardens Largo, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Suncoast Hospice or Pinellas County’s Heritage Village.
