FRANK J. DI LEO, SR., PASSED away to our Lord in Heaven on Nov. 17th, 2016 at the age of 84 years. Frank was a religious man and loved all his family dearly. He was the youngest of 10 children who had predeceased him. His parents were born and raised in Italy and moved to the United States to start their family. His father owned a Barber Shop on 5th Avenue in New York City across from the NY Library where Frank loved to go with him as a young boy plus enjoyed his father taking him to see the holiday parades. Born in Avenel, NJ he started working as a young man in his Uncle's pizzeria and learned the trade of cutting meat at a local market. He attended St. James in Woodbridge, NJ and St. Mary's High School in Perth Amboy, NJ. and holds an Associate’s Degree as an Licensed Practical Nurse and holds a Certification as Emergency Medical Technician. Frank Served as a Medic in the United States Army and served Active Duty during the Korean Era from 1954 to 1956. He worked as an In-Charge Nurse for the Department of Corrections, New Brunswick, NJ and Chrysler Corporation, Flemington, NJ and Clearwater, FL after retiring. Frank married in 1953 celebrating 61 years and is widowed since 2014 by his beloved wife, Josephine Gavaletz Di Leo. While married, they resided in Avenel, NJ, Whitehouse Station, NJ where they raised their family before retiring to Whiting, NJ and then moving to Belleair Bluffs, FL, and Seminole, FL. Just recently he resided in Ocala, FL . While a resident at Tamarac by the Gulf in Seminole, FL for 16 years, Frank proudly held the position of Crime Watch Chairman serving for several years and worked as a Police Volunteer for the Largo Police Department. Frank was a proud BROTHER of the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS and held his 4th Degree. He was also a Member of THE AMERICAN LEGION-POST #0273, Maderia Beach, FL. Frank is survived by his beloved children, two sons, Frank Di Leo, Jr. and wife Sandy, Christopher Di Leo and wife Amy, daughter, Catherine Di Leo Wanner and husband David, two grandsons, Matthew Wanner of Florida and Michael Di Leo of New Jersey including several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Monday, Nov. 28, at 1pm at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10895 Hamlin Blvd in Largo, FL. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens Memorial Park Lakeside Garden Mausoleum. Visitation hours are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 28 from 11 am to 12:15 pm at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road in Largo. There will be a celebration gathering luncheon at Serenity Gardens Celebration Gathering Room immediately following the committal service. All those who attend are invited.
