There's an old adage that you can't choose your family, but I would argue that in some respects, you can- you choose who you're close to, who you're influenced by, and who you emulate. You chose who you become by deciding who to listen to. It is slightly random, a child's choice of guardians and role models is influenced by others, and decisions beyond their control- sometimes you get 'family' who scarcely fit the word, and sometimes, if you're really lucky, you get people like Frank and Fran. Not everyone is lucky or fortunate enough to grow up near two grandparents, much less six. Being immediately welcomed into a warm, friendly environment complete with stories of "that time we caught the bad guy", and Sunday morning waffles gave me a much needed sense of stability in a very frustrating time in my life.

Frank was one of the finest men I ever met, and I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.   Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. We mourn the loss of this  good man, but our sadness  is tempered by the honor of having known him.

Frank was a Gentleman in every sense of the word.  His honesty and integrity as a law enforcement officer was legendary.  It was an honor to have known him as a friend of the family and as a professional. He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.  Paul Meissner Clearwater, FL

I absolutely loved Frank. An honorable man and a friend. Frank was my family's neighbor, and what a wonderful neighbor he was. Frank always helped with anything and everything  he could, especially where my disabled Grandson Evan was concerned. Please accept our heartfelt sympathies. We love all of you dearly.

I grew up next to Frank and his family. I played with Brian and Chuck. I was hired by Frank in 1974 and partly due to him spent 35 yes. in law enforcement. He was a mentor and later a friend.

Chief Daniels first hired me in 1968. He treated me with kindness, understanding and professionalism. He was a man of his word. He kept his word to me on many occasions. I will miss him and pray that he is safe now in the arms of God!

Brian and Charles, our prayers are with you at your time of loss. Your father was a great man and a fantastic police chief, a role model to be emulated by all who were fortunate to serve under his leadership. Those of us who had the privilege of being part of his tenure with C.P.D. knew we could always rely on him to be firm but fair, as his heart was always in the right place. He conducted himself with honor, decency, integrity and respect. He touched a great many lives in a very positive way, perhaps more than he might have realized himself. May he rest in peace, and may the Good Lord give you comfort and solace.

Chief Daniels was a great man!  He hired me on the Clearwater Police Department in 1979.  He was fair, honest and personable.  He made  quite an impression upon me as a young man, and I always enjoyed seeing him and catching up after he retired from CPD.  My most heartfelt and sincere condolences to Frank's family and loved ones.  R.I.P., Chief Daniels...you were a GREAT man who left an indelible mark on me as a very young man.  That mark remains today, all these years later.

Frank Daniels hired me to my first Law Enforcement job back in 1973.  My years of service at the CPD and later at PCSO is based on his wonderful ability as Chief of Police.  The department was one of the best to work for and work with.  You will be missed!  Larry Morgan

I met Frank Daniels 27 years ago shortly after retiring from the police service on Long Island.  He took a chance on me and hired me as an investigator in his private investigation agency. Due to this simple act of kindness we became great friends and eventually business partners.  Frank was one of the kindest and generous people I have ever met.    Our association changed my life for the better.    Pinellas County is a better place today because of  his service to our community.   I will miss him and always remember and cherish our friendship.
