In loving memory of our dear friend, Daniel Daratany FitzGerald, who brought warmth and laughter to the Pinellas County community. Born on December 17, 1966, to Catherine Kelly in Staten Island, NY, Daniel was a force of joy.
A proud graduate of Largo High School in 1984, Daniel's love for excitement led him to train at the fire academy and received an A.S in Fire Science. He served as Fire Lieutenant and also taught as a fire academy instructor in Pinellas County, sparking inspiration in those around him.
Known as "Duke Bytor" in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) and a spirited member of the Knights of Columbus, Daniel served with a contagious enthusiasm. His dedication to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Largo, FL, shone through as he regularly assisted those in the community.
Daniel's charm extended to his belief that every project should be grand, and every gathering should be lively. He leaves behind a legacy of big dreams and even bigger smiles.
Survived by his sister, Rachel Daratany, cousins, firefighter brothers, and SCA brothers in arms, Daniel's spirit lives on.
A visitation will be held at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, FL 33774, on Monday, December 11, 2023, from 4-8 pm, with a blessing service and remembrances at 6 pm. Daniel will continued to be honored at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1507 Trotter Road, Largo, FL on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 11 am.
