Bonnie touched many lives during her short time with us. A service and celebration of her life will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 455 Missouri Avenue, at 11am, Saturday August, 25, 2018. Thank you for being there for this time of worship. We thank God for our sister in Christ.
“Bonita” means beautiful in Spanish, which is what she was, inside and out. Her sweet, kind face and smile encouraged total strangers to open personal conversations anywhere she would be standing with others.
She was His faithful servant at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, as well as wherever she was in the world. She was always helping with or hosting special events, her favorite being Epiphany, or The Feast of Lights, which is so appropriate for such a bright and shining soul. She could also be found teaching Catechism, as an usher and working on committees. Her strong work ethic and organizational skills encouraged others. She made sure everyone had fun, too.
Bonnie was Team Leader of Fourth Grade at Belcher Elementary and was rated as a High-impact teacher by the State. She was a born teacher and cared about her students so much that many came back to visit and thank her years later. She was firm and fair and encouraged her students to do their best, and then a little bit more. She was often requested by parents, especially those who had another child with her previously.
Bonnie was a caring and supportive mother to Tamara and Gabrielle as well as a 24/7 super role model, mentor, and teacher. She was “The Best Nonnie Ever” to grandson Evan and a loving aunt to Lauren and Justin. She always listened more than she talked and offered gentle, wise guidance and encouragement, generously sprinkled with love.
Bonnie was a great sister in law to Mike and sister to Debbie, who were as close as sisters could be. Bonnie loved her two favorite Sons’ in law Jeff and Nick (yes, there can be two favorites), who loved her just as much. She also loved her sister in-law and brothers in-law, Leslie, Ken and Dave and enjoyed spending time with them as often as she could. Her list of true friends was long, which was another blessing from God; she dearly loved you all.
Bonnie was a wonderful wife, who was quick to point out that she was not perfect, but she was a perfect match for her husband of 28 years, Kim. They sometimes wished they had met sooner, but were grateful God put them together at the right time. No number of years would have been enough. Bonnie trusted God and knew more time together was ahead.
If you are considering sending flowers, please consider sending school supplies or memorial contributions instead to Belcher Elementary School, 2015 Lancaster Drive, Clearwater, FL 33764. Bonnie would have liked nothing more and the need is always great. The Belcher web site has a Supply List, under Resources.
