Virginia Ziegler, of Lansing, passed away surrounded by her loving family on December 8, 2023 at the age of 79. Virginia was born in Alice, Texas on December 5, 1944, the daughter of Manuel and Aurora (Canales) Gutierrez. Virginia had an extremely hard work ethic and grew up picking cotton and harvesting produce. She was married to the love of her life, Eugene Ziegler, on September 30th, 1961. She graduated from Holt School District and was awarded a scholarship to attend Lansing Community College. She then worked at JC Penny and for a local dentist, before retiring.
Virginia lent her time volunteering at Maplewood Elementary school and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran church. Since Eugene’s untimely passing in 1986, she lived on her own and took pride in taking care of her home and remaining there. She wasn’t afraid to go up on the roof and clear the gutters, paint, wash the house, or patch up her basement. She loved to bake cookies for her family and friends, enjoyed going to school and learning historical facts, reading, and babysitting her four grandchildren. We will always remember how feisty, strong-willed, and witty she was, caring deeply for her family.
Virginia is survived by her children, Debra (Michael) Zdebski and Lori (William) Falsetta; grandchildren William (Carrie) Zdebski, Kirstyn Zdebski, Rosemarie (Ryan) Rhodes, and William (Brenna) Falsetta; great-grandchildren Ella Falsetta, Ava Green, Ember Green, Brooklyn Green, and one Zdebski baby on the way; she was one of eleven siblings, with three surviving sisters. A private family service & burial has been held, and the family has asked for no flowers or donations.
