Lansing native Thomas Ray Seymour passed away on January 26, 2016 due to complications from a stroke suffered in November of 2015. He was 73 years old.
Tom is survived by his wife Mary Frances Farkas; his sons Daniel T. Seymour (Rolling Meadows, Illinois) and Michael Seymour (Atlanta, Georgia) and their wives Joelle Seymour and Melanie Gulley; his siblings John Seymour, Paul Seymour, Jim Seymour, Alan Seymour, Sue Swartz, Lorraine Toy, and Nancy Ramsey; and his grandsons Nicholas, Mitchell, Dylan, and Collin Seymour. He was preceded in death by his siblings Mary Siwek, Daniel L. Seymour, Anne Schoen, and Carol Seymour; his parents Phyllis and Normand Seymour; and his first wife Mary Frances (Brogan) Seymour.
Before retiring in 2008 Tom was a well-regarded Licensed Professional Engineer, specializing in Civil Engineering. He served communities across Michigan including Detroit, Sterling Heights, Trenton, Grand Rapids, Plainwell, and Sturgis. He was elected to state-wide and national leadership in professional organizations. Mr. Seymour was an active member of the communities where he lived. His volunteer service included Boy Scouts, assisting adults overcome Math illiteracy, insuring fair housing opportunities, and the Healing Racism movement.
Memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Woldumar Nature Center, 5739 Old Lansing Road, Lansing, MI 48917.
