Stanley W. Smith, 88, of Dimondale, MI passed away on March 18, 2015. He was born December 22, 1927 in Lansing, MI to Waldo and Caroline Smith. He attended M.S.C., served as Radarman 2nd Class during WWII and in the Korean Conflict. He worked at Motor Wheel (Goodyear) as a supervisor and manager in cost, data processing, and payroll. Stan retired after 38 years, and was president on the board of directors and other offices at Motor Wheel Credit Union. He belonged to the VFW #701, Eagles, Moose, USNCC, and was a volunteer for 14 years installing Lifelines for Ingham Medical Hospital (McLaren). He attended First Methodist Church from 1932 to the present and relished all the friends he made. Stan was married to Pat (Sweet) Smith for 57 years. They were married in Angola, IN for $10.00.
He is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Rosalind, and his wife, Patricia.
Stan is survived by 2 daughters, Lynn (Ray) Ettinger, and Lori (Mike) Merritt; sister, Lorena (Bill) Dunlap; 6 grandchildren, Tamie, Katie, Jerry (Christy) Childs, Sara (Tim) Applegate, Mike, Bonnie (Steve) Dexter; 12 great grandchildren, Paige, Logan, Aidreana, Ethan, Owen, Haven, Cody, Hannah, Austin, Lilly, Gabriel, and Peyton; plus one great great-grandson, Frank Jr.
Stan will be greatly missed, but he is at peace in his “Final Home” forever. He is reunited with his wife, Pat, whom he truly loved and called “the crowning achievement of his life.”
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Monday, March 23, 2015 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI. Visitation will be Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, and also one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, MI.
