Robert E Labadie, 75, of Lansing passed away June 9, 2016 at home with his loving family. Robert was born in Detroit, Michigan December 3, 1940 to Ora Albert Labadie Jr. and Frances Lucille (Jaynes). His family story begins with Pierre Descomps dit Labadie who immigrated from La Rochelle, France and settled in Fort Detroit about 1747, and immediately took a foremost rank in the affairs of the colony. They were one of the earliest French families at the Fort with a very strong religious background. He has three brothers, Richard of Bellingham, WA, Thomas of Modesto, CA and Donald of Brighton, MI. Robert was in the United States Air Force from 1963 until 1969 as a firefighter at Hamilton Air Force Base and Travis Air Force Base, in California and at the Eaker Air Force Base in Blytheville, Arkansas. He had a love for model airplanes and built them as a young boy. Robert also had a passion for Model A Fords. He was a member of the Lansing Flying Aces, a control line flying club and a member of Mid-Michigan Model A Club with his 1930 Model A Roadster Deluxe. Robert was a construction engineer where he built buildings in San Francisco and restored many of the towns old Victorian homes. He designed the model sail plane "Whisper" and a control line flying chair "The Pilot Seat". He was a master craftsmen and his wife's hero! Robert and Gloria were married May 2, 1970 in Santa Rosa, California on Medica Lane at John Medica's castles and gardens - a site that is now a California historical landmark. They had one beautiful daughter, Monique Jean, who is married to Brad Drury with four beautiful children; Amber, Alex, and the twins; Brendan and Gabrielle. A loving family filled with love, peace, and happiness. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 9:30 - 10:30 am at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, Michigan with a service immediately following at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek with military honors.
