Robert "Bob" L. Boughner

Robert “Bob” L. Boughner, 67, of Lansing, MI passed away March 3, 2015. Bob was born in Lansing to Harry and Harriet (Bailey) Boughner on July 14, 1947. He will be remembered as the life of the party and for having a great sense of humor. Bob attended Eastern High School where he was a cheerleader and graduated in the class of ’65. He put himself through veterinarian school and ran his own practice, specializing in surgery until his retirement. After retirement he received his masters in biomechanical engineering and nearly finished his Ph.D. in human anatomy before being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1996.

He worked with Dr. Hubbard at MSU in developing the medical HANS device that all race car drivers are required to use. He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying very much. When he became ill, he continued his flying by the use of a flight simulator. He was also working everyday on his piano skills. He was a bible believing Christian and had a lot of faith. Even in his fragile state in the last 10 years he took great care of his mother and mother-in-law.

Bob proceeded in death by his parents and his brother Preston. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Susan; daughters, Kristy (Tom) Butz, Laurie (Richard) Boyd; Grandchildren, Nathan (Kaitlynn), Jared, Samm (John), Jacob, Alex, Jenna; Great Grandchildren, Lily, Bailey, Kaleigh, Malakai; and his canine companion, Miss Molly. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially Susan and Molly.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, March 6, 2015 at 7pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes in Lansing MI. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
