Phyllis is the second oldest of seven, affectionately known as Ree, Grand Ree, Ree Ree, Aunt Ree and Ms Phyllis by her family and friends. Phyllis was a quiet and shy child that accepted her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 12.
She along with her siblings were proud members of The African Culture Center of Buffalo, New York where they learned and recited African American literature and plays.
Phyllis attended School Eight in Buffalo until the age of 15 when her family moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1977. There, she went to Central Junior High and Saginaw High School.
Phyllis moved to Lansing, Michigan in the early 1980's where in 1987 she met Art Williams, Jr while working at Meijers Distribution Center. January 1, 1991 Phyllis married Art and they made a difference in each others lives.
Phyllis was very determined to own a business and opened Aunt Ree's Daycare. She maintained and operated this business for seventeen years out of her home where she provided care for over 70 children, many of the families remain friends to this day.
Phyllis obtained a BA from Spring Arbor University in 2005.
She truly loved caring for children and even started providing foster care in her home. During this chapter of her life she fostered over 30 kids.
While teaching in Mason, Michigan at Heartwood School, she started Still-Well Adult Foster Care in 2008 caring for people on the autism spectrum. She ran this business until she retired in 2019.
Daughter Angelica Joyce Williams preceded her in death.
Phyllis's memory will be cherished, by her loving husband Art of 30 years; parents, Ed Price and Joyce Price of Lansing; six children, Haneef, Hanedra, Jamal (Sendy), Arthur III, Shaleen and David; seven grandchildren, Kortney, Kaden, Andreas, Preston, Ariana, Aiden, and Aaliyah Shree; six siblings Eldrick Price of (Indiana), LaDonna Price of Ohio, Rhonda Price of Arizona, Katondra Price of Lansing, Angela Price and Attallah Price of Atlanta; several nieces, nephews and a host of cousins; honorary family, Amelia Johnson, Regina Limon, Cedric Wheeler, Will Bryant, Alberta Washington, Lisa Tillery, Lewis Lipsey, Ted Hardiman and Sue Stubitz.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15 from 5pm until 7pm at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw St., Lansing. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 16 at 10:30am at Trinity Church, 3355 Dunckel Rd. in Lansing.
