Nicholas Anthony Cugini, age 27, of Grand Ledge was born December 19, 1995 to Frank and Katherine Cugini and went into the arms of his heavenly father after a tragic car accident on August 24, 2023 near Stephenson, MI where he had been living since early 2022.
Nicholas graduated from Grand Ledge High School. He was a varsity athlete in both football and wrestling. While he spent most of his life in Grand Ledge, he also lived in Lansing and Detroit, before making his way to the Upper Peninsula. Nicholas exemplified the essence of hard work throughout his life. He dedicated his career to the hospitality industry where his genuine care for others created memorable experiences for countless individuals. Nicholas lived his life guided by faith in Jesus, demonstrating compassion and kindness to all he encountered.
Beyond his professional life, Nicholas had an array of interests. He was an avid disc golfer, enjoyed kayaking and gaming, and was a dedicated fantasy football commissioner.
Nick loved without hesitation. He loved recklessly. He loved sometimes without regard for himself. Nick made sure everyone and anyone that was in his presence was included, heard and cared for. He would make you a forever friend the minute you met him. Whether it was 5 minutes, a week, a lifetime, it didn’t matter the amount of time you spent with Nick you undoubtedly knew him as your friend. He fiercely rose to any challenge that was in front of him. He adapted to his environments and worked hard. Nick had a drive to compete in all things whether it was cards, sports or video games. He would even compete on your behalf. From Ohio State and Cleveland Browns Football to music to disc golf to his friends and family Nick gave all of himself, all of the time. We all can only aspire to love like Nick.
Nicholas is survived by his parents: Frank and Katherine Cugini; siblings: Katelyn (Jamison) Shaffer, Gabriella (Joshua) Glassnor, Zachary Cugini and Lucas Jacobs; niece and nephews: Joseph Glassnor, Olen and Daisy Shaffer; grandmother: Donna Cugini; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Frederick and Ella Herwaldt and Frank Cugini.
