I knew Mike from the time we both went to Foster Ave. School.  After high school we went separate ways, but later we reconnected through his banking relationship.  Always a gentleman.

I worked with Mike at the State for 19 years. He was both a great boss and a supportive and caring friend. 

I'll miss him in so many ways...his delight in sharing jokes (the good, the bad, and especially the groaners), how he made a point to stop by my office at least once a day to share them - and the twinkle in his eyes when he made me laugh, how he strategically calculated when to start wearing his holiday ties based on how many he had, how he was so understanding, supportive, and encouraging...and how he could always be relied on to be steady and calm in the many storms we weathered together. He will be missed greatly...😢

I worked with Mike at SOS when I was there as an admin for the COLD program. I always will remember Mike as a very kind, genuine individual andwas a pleasure to be around. After I left SOS, I would still contact Mike over license plates that I thought were used illegally and he helped take care of the situation.  He will be greatly missed.

I met Mike when he first came to work at the SOS.  We were both on the team that created the CVR program for car dealers.    Mike was a good guy, always upbeat.    Since I retired 2.5 years ago I hadn't seen him recently, but I am saddened to hear of his passing.   I will keep his family in my thoughts and prayers. 

We worked with Mike when he first joined the Customer Services team at MDOS.  He was a well-dressed professional from Day One.  More importantly, he was a kind, good-humored man who genuinely cared for others.  Over the ten plus years that we worked together, Mike was more than a co-worker, he was our friend.  We will miss him.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike's loved ones.

I remember meeting Mike Fildey, also known as "Mr. Mike," when I began working in the Renewal by Mail Unit in 2015.  He was a really nice man.  I am very happy I had him as a supervisor.  The secondary complex will not be the same without him. He will truly be missed.

I joined Renewal by Mail in December 2014. During my interview for this position, Mr. Mike asked what I expected from him as my boss. To summarize my response, I said a friend. Over the next four and a half years, he met and exceeded that expectation. He supported my career goals and helped me towards them whenever he could. During this time, he had also grew close to my husband, Blake, who he loved to poke fun at for being a U of M fan and team up to play light pranks on me with. Mr. Mike will be sorely missed. I will miss being spoiled with cheesy jokes, bad puns, classic movie references, awkward personalized plate meaning conversations, and food. He made sure our staff was never without bargain cookies daily, bagels or donuts for early morning overtime, or pizza for special occasions. Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

Mr. Mike was a greeter at my church. Although I didn’t know him well,  I saw him most weekends.   What I could tell immediately is that he was a kind man.  Starting a few years ago he let my rambunctious, hyper-active  son “help” him greet.   I don’t know how many times I would look over and see Mr. Mike and my son holding the door open for someone.  And Mike never complained about the extra “help”.   

Thank you, Mike, for the kindness you showed my son!  Sometimes it’s the small gestures that make the biggest impact.

We are deeply honored & blessed to have known Michael Fildey as a beloved  friend & supervisor of the Renewal By Mail Unit.  Mr. Mike was such a wonderful person to work for.  Everyone in the RBM office will greatly miss his smile & helpful attitude.  He kept us smiling on a daily basis with the joke of the day, daily trivia questions & the quirky riddles he knew.  He will be missed and we know he will be with us in spirit everyday since he was the glue of our department.  Thank you for the memories Mr. Mike!

Mike Fildey, known to us as “Mr. Mike”, started off as my boss in Renewal by Mail unit back in 2011 but became a mentor and friend as the years went by.  He watched me grow from a student fresh out of high school still figuring out the workforce, to a college graduate, a homeowner, and a new mother.  He led by example, he was very dedicated and extremely kind.  In my 8 years working with him I never once heard him raise his voice.  He would brighten our day by telling us cheesy dad jokes, and he wore a different tie every day of the year.  He will be greatly missed.  My prayers go out to his family.

When I asked Mike for Kristen’s hand in marriage he asked “ah you know she can be a little difficult, right?”  (He was kidding, I think) I was a little taken aback but managed to answer “ah yeah...” and without skipping a beat in the lousiest happiest I’ve ever heard him he said “then welcome to the family!”  And he did, he always made me feel welcome with his family.  I will miss him. 

Mike started as my boss in 2000 in DSU.  He was a really great boss, he always came and helped when he didn’t have to.  I just talked with him a few weeks ago and he was looking forward to retiring and going to see his family.  May God be with his family and help them through this loss.  My prayers are with the family also.
