Okemos, Michigan
Age 81, born September 9, 1934, passed away March 29, 2016. Mary was a faithful attendee at Holy Cross Catholic Church and then St. Gerard Catholic Church. She sang with the Sweet Adelines and in her retirement she was a member of the Theater Group at Mid-Michigan Community College where she developed a passion for singing and acting. Ironically, she died 365 days apart from the love of her life, LaVerne. They were married for 60 years. Mary and LaVerne loved to dance the polka, traveling and enjoyed walks at Blue Lake. Mary will be missed for her laughter and sense of humor by her family and friends. Her Grandchildren and Great Grand-Grandchildren brought her great joy. Mary was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Surviving to cherish the memory of Mary are her daughters Jodi (Ken) Barber, Robin (Bob) Maxon, Amy (Tim) Toune; her sons Phil (Ruth) Wieferich, Pat (Connie) Wieferich, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and four sisters. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing; with Rev. John Klein officiating. The family will receive friends, Friday, April 1st, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing and one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would like to thank the staff of the Ingham County Medical Care Facility for the loving care they provided for Mary.
