Marion Joyce Marcy

Marion Joyce (Dreamer) Marcy age 75 of DeWitt passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021. She was born in Custer, S.D. on August 31,1945 to Geraldine (Dreamer) Chalmers and was adopted and raised by George and Marion Dreamer. Joyce spent her childhood living between Custer and Shepherd, Michigan. She graduated from Shepherd High and soon after married C.Kent Marcy in 1964.

The couple moved to Lansing and eventually settled in DeWitt while Joyce began a career at Auto-Owners Insurance that lasted 25 years. She made a big change in 1995 joining the staff at DeWitt High School as a paraprofessional. She worked there until she retired and always said they were her happiest years working.

Joyce was very creative and filled her spare time with her many passions, playing piano, practicing calligraphy and painting. She was an advocate and lover of animals, from the horses of her youth to the many dogs and cats that always filled the family home.

She was a mother to Kim and Nick and always taught them to pursue their passions and creativity. She and Kent travelled endlessly with the kids, camping all across the United States and then touring Europe; but Joyce always loved the trips back to the Black Hills in South Dakota. She eventually reconnected with her birth mother and many siblings, she reminisced about her childhood riding horses in the Black Hills and had desire to return someday.

Joyce was preceded in death earlier this year by her husband of 56 years, C.Kent. She is survived by her children Kim (Kevin) Brady and Nick Marcy; granddaughter Aislingh Brady and numerous others.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home Lansing. There will be visiting one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
