Marcia Mae Dittmer

Marcia was born July 3, 1927, in Ludington, the daughter of Martin and Lucile (Warden) Kennedy. She graduated from St. Simon High School in Ludington in 1945 and from Aquinas College with a B.A. in English in 1949. Marcia married Robert S. Dittmer on Dec. 30, 1950 at St. Simon Catholic Church in Ludington.

She is survived by her children: Marta Dittmer (Jim) and her daughters, Lauren, Lindsay and Kelsey (Craig); Bruce and Vicky Dittmer and their children John, and his sons Ronan and Cale, and Erin (Eric) and their son Will; Jay and Debbie Dittmer and their children Kelly (Jason) and Mike (Blair) and Stephen and Judy Dittmer and their sons Sean and Dan (Erikka); Roberta and Dave Sprague and their son Brian; Cara and Craig Flegel and their children Mathew and Jenna; Neal Dittmer; Teresa Dittmer; and Diana Dittmer; and by her sister, Georgia Young. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, and their son, Kenneth Dittmer, and by her brother, Richard Kennedy.

After her youngest child, Diana, entered school, Marcia followed in her mother's footsteps and worked as a librarian. She passed along her passion for reading to her children as well as her love of music. Marcia was a member of the Aquinas College Glee Club and a devoted, long-time member of the St. Gerard Choir. She also enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, March 1, 2021 with the rosary being prayed at 4:30 pm at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Lansing with Father John P. Klein officiating. The Right of Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing.
