November 26, 1933 – May 18, 2020
Joyce was born in Mt. Victory, Kentucky in November, 1933 to Albert and Bonnie Sears. Her family moved from Kentucky to Sunfield, Michigan in the late 1940’s when her family relocated to Michigan. They were looking for jobs in the auto industry. She graduated from Sunfield High School in 1953.
Anyone who knew Joyce knew her as a kind and giving woman. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She loved children and gave much of her time and treasurers to any child she knew. She was always ready to help anyone in need and was generous to all. You could always find Joyce at a ball game rooting on one of her grandchildren. She loved family reunions, camping, snowmobiling, quilting, fishing trips to Canada, and participated in the Red Hat Society. Joyce was an avid bowler and made many friends at the bowling alley. People near and far looked forward to their phone ringing and hearing Joyce’s voice calling to say, “How are you doing honey?”
Joyce retired from General Motors, Oldsmobile in 1991. She was a hard worker and made many friends at UAW Local 652.
Joyce survived an early bout of colon cancer and then was afflicted with breast cancer. She battled hard but succumbed to this terrible disease.
Joyce is preceded in death by her mother, Bonnie Sears; her husband, Russell Pollard; and her son-in-law Bobbie Finley, Jr. She is survived by her brothers Doug Sears and Terry Sears, Jean (Margene) Sears, and Albert (Cindy) Sears; her five children: Vicki (Craig) Wenzel, Debbie (Bobbie) Finley, Barry Palmer and Marta Sinclair, Roxann Brown-Palmer, Jodi (Bob) Wagner. Her grandchildren Heather (Jay) White, Christy (Jimmy) Bourdlais, Carly (Jeff) Sanford, Cayce Palmer, Dan (Gina) Wagner, Kim (Ken) Ennis, Jessi (Ted) Maschke, Adam (Kaitlyn) Palmer, and Brandi Wagner. She had 9 great-grandchildren: Carter, Quinn, Bodi, Kalin, Maci, Eliza, Adalyn, Jaxtyn, and Avaya.
