Joyce May Hook of Lansing died peacefully Thursday, July 25, 2013, in the presence of family and under the care of Hospice of Lansing. She was 81. Joyce was born April 27, 1932 in Lansing to Henry and Josephine Gignac. She worked at Kresge’s in downtown Lansing in the 1950s and at Will Variety on Turner Street in the 1990s. She was known to all as a caring person who saw the best in everyone. She touched countless lives with her love and compassion. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Hook Sr., of nearly 47 years; a sister, Blanche Perkins; a brother, Hank Gignac; and her parents. She is survived by her only child, Lawrence Hook Jr. of Leslie and his wife, Carolyn; three grandchildren who lit up her life, Nolan, Brendan and Danielle; two sisters, Ethel Phillips of Howell and June Harris of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews. VISITATION WILL BE AT GORSLINE RUNCIMAN LANSING CHAPEL ON MONDAY, JULY 29, 2013 FROM 5 P.M. – 8 P.M. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 30 at 11 A.M. with one hour prior visitation, at the Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan Ave. with Rev. Father John Fain officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lansing. Donations may be made to Hospice of Lansing, 4052 Legacy Parkway, Suite 200, Lansing, MI 48911.
