Joseph B. Loszewski

Lansing, MI

Born August 12, 1920 in Wyandotte, MI, to the late Bronislaus and Stephanie Loszewski, he passed away peaceful on May 18, 2011 at the age of 90. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Agnes, sisters; Irene and Genevieve, brothers; John and Stephen. He is survived by his son; Robert (Ann) Helmic, sister; Anna Smrek, brother; Henry Loszewski, grandchildren; Robin (Terry) Becksfort and Scott (Peggy) Helmic, great grand children; Jared, Jordyn, Jori and Julian Helmic and Taryn and Taylor Becksfort, niece; Sandra (William) Hunter and several other nieces and nephews. Joseph graduated from Wyandotte Roosevelt High School in 1938. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and retired from Oldsmobile, division of GMC, as a crane operator after 31 years. He belonged to the Oldsmobile Quarter Century Club, Polish Falcons Nest 652 and UAW Local Retirees Chapter. In Joseph’s youth he was an outstanding football and baseball player. After the war he played on several fast pitch softball teams in the Lasing area. After retirement Joseph became an avid golfer and enjoyed landscaping his yard. His interest in the Tigers, Red Wings, U of M football and the Lions never waned. Joseph was a faithful member of St. Casimir Church. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and grandfather and a very special uncle. His kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 815 Sparrow Ave, Lansing. The Rite of Committal will be held at Deepdale Memorial Park, Lansing. The family will receive friends at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing on Sunday May 22, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. where the Rosary will be at 7:00 P.M.
