She was born November 16, 1954 to Mary Ellen Jeffery and named by her older sister, Emily Kay Gavitt. She was a loving mother, Cub Scout Leader, Girl Scout Leader, friend of the library and an elected member of the Grand Ledge Library Board. She enjoyed her time working as a Secretary at Potterville Elementary School as well as an Office Manager at Michigan Dyslexia Institute in Lansing, MI. She was an avid hiker and spent 28 days hiking 350 miles on the North Country Trail during the summer of 2019, one of her greatest achievements.
Survived by her children: Justo A Hernandez, Ernesto A Hernandez, and Sara Pilar-Hernandez (Jose) Vergara; her grandchildren Florina Lynn Vergara and Jose Alejandro Vergara; her siblings: Emily Kay (Richard) Gavitt and John (Kathy) Jeffery; and her loving dog, Ping. Predeceased by her sister Carol Skog.
Funeral arrangements by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in Lansing, MI. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations are accepted by the North Country Trail, to keep her favorite trails and parks well maintained.
