Uncle Jon, you didn't stay long enough for me to really get to know you so I'm limited on my words. But I've heard stories about you, and I just know you would be one of the most pure and joyful souls I could have ever known. I hope Heaven is treating you well. I pray to meet you up there one day and give you a huge hug. (I heard you have great hugs) I love you uncle...

I've been thinking about you Jonny!  Each year that rolls by, I am reminded how special you were.  A smile and a laugh like yours was a gift beyond words.  Sitting on my back patio.. havin' a beverage by the fire... watching a rock n roll concert on the outdoor theatre... reminds me of all those memories crankin' out Van Halen tunes ridin' in you car.  Blessed to have shared your friendship.

Jonny, as I look across the bay at the lakehouse, I so easily see you here, splashing around in the water, floating on your inflatable water toys, swimming across the bay to the other side and resting at the big rock that will forever be “Jonny’s” rock. You were so proud of yourself that day for getting all the way across the bay while Julie, in her kayak, stayed near you, coaching you on, and ready to offer aid should you need it. But like so many other things, you were successful, regardless of the limitations your health set before you every day. I see you everywhere. You loved being here with us. When I watch the hummingbirds I think of you, how you would also watch them with such fascination and take videos of them. I remember your easy laughter and your wonderful smile, your loving hugs...you are in my heart forever my precious son. I love you so much, and I’m so very proud to be your mom.

Jon, it seems like six minutes but it's been six years. Still have ups and downs but thinking of you always helps. Love always.

Jon, five years have passed. Life has been crazy, difficult, and fantastic. I have to say though that it has been a lot less fun without you in it. There is a hole that only you can fill. You are missed dearly, and thought of often. Give Higgins a pat for me ok? Love you always.

Jon, you may not be here with us to celebrate today but I know you are enjoying your day nonetheless. You are terribly missed, ever loved and I want to send you a very happy birthday wish. I met Jon about 9 years ago, and little did I know it would change my life.  The king of nicknames, faces, and laughter.  He was THE MOST LOYAL PERSON I have had the pleasure of meeting.  I reached a tough point in my life, and when most people would have parted ways, he stuck around and encouraged me to keep moving forward.  Jon, the perpetual optimist, took each day in stride and did the things he loved to do.  For the past few years there wasn't a day that went by that I didn't get to hear from him (even if I wasn't in the mood).  He made my life, and my family's life, better by being in it.

Jon, you are an amazing man, and I go on in this life thinking of you daily.  In your last days here, you told me you loved me and were proud of me...that meant more than you can imagine. There are days that I really struggle to accept that you are not here and the pain of losing you overwhelms me.  I look at Lucas and Ethan, and it hurts knowing "Big Jon" isn't there to see them grow and learn.  I still hear your laugh in my head, and it makes me smile, although it is just a memory. Thank you my dear friend, Thank you.

I grew up wanting to be like my big brother Jon.  It was clear to me at a young age he had a special gift. A way about him that was so lovable and I always noticed how he captivated other people with his infectious personality.  I will miss his smile and big bellowing laughter that would light up the room. I will miss his genuine goodness and incredible altruistic nature. I will certainly miss the day to day interactions be it a serious conversation or joking around and making fun of dad.  The worst part for me is that my son, Mason, probably won't remember his incredibly awesome uncle Jon.  Although they shared a lot of laughter together in their limited time knowing each other. Losing Jon was very difficult for a lot of people.  If you knew Jon well, you understand.  It comforts me to know he is in a better place now looking down on all of us with that big smile.  I love you and miss you so much. Rest in Peace big bro.

What I really wanted to write about and what impressed me was this: At the store I visited today, I went to the bathroom. Outside the bathrooms was a plaque with a uniform in it and pics of a beloved employee with their name and birth/death year below it. I was completely in awe of that. That the company and that store cared enough about a fallen employee and he was loved that much to put up his uniform with pics like that honoring his memory. I was so taken aback by that. It is beyond awesome that they did that. You NEVER see that in the corporate world anymore. I think if I died, any place I've worked in the last 20 years wouldn't do that for me. But Best Buy did for this guy. I think that is beyond cool that the store took the time to do that. I don't know how the guy died, if he died there at the store or who he was or who he effected, but I was certainly effected by the concept that they would care enough to do that. To be honest, I had been sort of drifting away from best buy due to them changing the store so much, dwindling the music and movie section in favor of more TV/Computer sales. And their clerks in the music/movie section seem to never know anything about bands, movies or any specific differences between the various releases and re-releases of things that come out. So I got a bit disenfranchesed with Best Buy in general. I only went in there today because it was my best shot to get the Rush box set I wanted in all of Lansing. but I saw that today, that added touch of personality and humanity for a fallen loved one who worked there, and I was touched greatly by that. It seems like a "family" there and I wish I could be a part of it. I'd love for my work to care about me that much. they honored his service, his memory and his time for them and reflected it back to us. I wish I coulda known him now. I wish I knew his story. But its enough to know that Best Buy, that store, cared. Good work Best Buy, you won my heart back. :)

Jon, You were the best friend I could ever have asked for.  From the time I met you on the schoolyard playground at the age of five, we shared countless memories growing up together.  Your friendship brought so much laughter, kindness, and joy into my life.  Our world has lost a most special spirit.  You will always be missed as I will think of you often. Your words soar high mom, just like his spirit soars now. I can see his smile in those of my kids. I know he is with us still and when that day comes where we come together again, I know it will be forever.

My precious child, on a beautiful June morning, you came into my world.  Your hearty wail melted my heart away.  You were placed in my arms, and I fell in love with you.

The years flew by, and all was well.  A beautiful and  loving, incredibly smart, wonderful child, you enjoyed all the normal, busy, happy things that little boys do.  I was so proud of you, my precious son.

Young adulthood saw you venturing out to be your own person.  You were such a caring, giving, loving young man so full of life with such a sense of humor, always keeping everyone around you happy, laughing...skateboards, snowmobiles, sketching and drawing, music, muscle cars, you claimed those to be your loves among so much more, becoming skillfull and knowledgeable, developing so many friends along your way. You were amazing, my precious son.

And then it happened; something we could not see; with no warning, you became ill.  It almost claimed you then, that frightening December of 2001, but your spirit ralleyed.  You won the battle but paid a price.  You had your battle wounds to live with. They changed your life, and every day became a challenge.  You dealt with each attack on your body, and there were so many.  You found your own way to fight back, to stand your ground.  It was discouraging at times; you didn't always win the battles, but your spirit didn't falter.  New problems were always just around the corner.  You always said, "I'm doing the best I can, mom".  I knew you were, Jonny.  You were my hero, my precious son.

Your fight has come to its end, sweetheart.  There is no more suffering.  You are at peace. You endured so much.  There is no way to measure the loss, the emptiness, the pain, the tears...I will always love you, your memory, the joy you gave, the love you so freely offered to all of us with such a deeply caring, generous spirit.  I will listen for you at the lakehouse where you loved to be...in the whisper of the pines, the gentle splashing of the water along the shore, or maybe catch a glimpse of that loving spirit on "Jon's Rock" across the bay. He was one of the kindest souls i have ever met. He was very inspiring with his positive outlook and passion for life. Not once did he let his illness bring him down. He came into work day after day with a big smile on his face, and he also helped put a smile on anyones face if they were ever feeling down. Jon you were a great coworker and friend. You will be greatly missed

My dear friend jon. You were one true friend. I love playing at parents house when we all were little about 30 years ago.  You will be truly missed. Jon and I had some great times together. Even though he was a year ahead of me in school, he was kind enough to let me join him and the "older guys" skateboarding, which led me to a decade of pursuing the sport. Even though I hadn't seen him in years, I always considered him a friend. I will never forget him. He will be missed.

Jon was such a wonderful guy.  We went to High School together, and although I hadn't seen him in over 16 years, it doesn't make this any easier.  He always had a smile on his face and had such a wonderful sense of humor.  He will always have a special place in my heart.

Jon was a wonderful Person Always greeted you with a smile and Had a compassionate Heart.  We went to School together and I have seen him several times since we graduated.
