John Morris of Lansing, Michigan went home to rest in the loving arms of Jesus on April 22, 2021. He was a truly beloved husband, father, brother, son, colleague, and friend. He was born on September 27, 1963, in Lansing where he spent his whole life. In his 57 years, he lived and loved well, devoting himself to his family, church, friends, and work.
After graduating from Eastern High School, John attended and earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University. He remained a committed Spartan and passed his love for the green and white on to his family.
John began his career at Accent Leasing where he learned the finance business. His career continued when he joined Dart Bank as a commercial loan officer where he worked for over 16 years. John found his calling at Dart Bank. His caring, kind, and compassionate customer service made him a beloved staple in the Lansing business community. Many of his customers became life-long friends.
Though his educational and career accomplishments were numerous, his true passion was his family. John loved being a father and he devoted his life to guiding, supporting, and shaping his children into who they are today. As many have shared, his face beamed with pride when discussing any of his four children and their accomplishments. John’s family was built on the strong foundation of his marriage to his beloved wife Jane. They lived, loved, and raised a family together for 23 years, never forgetting to take time to spend together and feed their marital bond. Their last getaway to the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island at a Celebrate Your Marriage conference in June will always be a special memory for Jane. John’s deep commitment to family was illustrated when he and Jane completed the adoption of their youngest child just over 2 years ago. The couple took Jordan in as a foster child from birth and fell in love with him almost immediately.
John was a staunch supporter of parochial school education serving on many boards and councils of the schools his children attended. He was committed to providing a parochial school education for all of his children and made countless sacrifices to ensure that happened.
John was preceded in death by his Father David and his mother Mara Morris. Surviving is his beloved wife, Jane; 4 children, Jordan (4), Abigail (17), Audrey (19), and Alexander (Megan) Morris (31) all of Lansing; Brother, Dave (Martha) of Las Vegas; Sister, Denise (John) Snow of Seattle; and Brother, Dan Morris of Lansing.
