Joan F. Roland

Joan Roland was born on March 16, 1944 in Lansing, the daughter of the late Daniel and Dortha (Phelps) Morse, and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on October 10, 2013 at the age of 69. She will be dearly missed by her husband, family and all who knew her. Joan was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed going to casinos, travelling and baking. Most of all she loved spending time with family and friends. Joan was always smiling. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ronald Morse; her father and mother in law, Albert Roland and Hazel Sutton. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 49½ years, Roger Roland; two daughters, Bethany (Patrick) Mayer and Barbara (Mike Coss, fiancé) Wade; one son, Roger (Beth) Roland II; six grandchildren, Ryan Wade, Benjamin Wade, Timothy Mayer, Lucas Mayer, Michael Nau and Karsyn Nau; one brother, Edwin “Leonard” (Nancy) Morse; two sisters, Audrey (David) Cooper and Janet Genson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends from 2:00~4:00 PM and 6:00~8:00PM on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at Noon on Friday.
