Joan Theresa Reed

Joan Theresa Reed, born on October 29, 1940, in Waterloo, Ontario, passed away on April 9, 2024, at the age of 83 in Lansing, Michigan. She was a proud mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend.

Joan was a loving individual who will be deeply missed by her siblings Susan Burch (Richard), Michael Wey (Susan), and Debbie Pyret (Gary), children William Allen Reed (Tammy), Todd Louis Reed (Cheryl), Richard Lee Reed, and Traci Lynn Sagolla (Dave), as well as her grandchildren Lindsey, Maggie, Sidney, Will, Nathan, Emily, Kayla, Kirk, AJ, Bonnie, Owen, Allison, Kelly, Larry, Alex, and Nick, and great-grandchildren Grace, Reagan, Lilly, Braxtyn, Oakley, Kai, Lennon, Finn, Joslyn, and Alex.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William H. Reed, parents Alexander Joseph and Magdalene Marie Wey, siblings Paul Wey, Doug Wey, Dale Wey, and Mary Rossman, daughter Shelly (Michelle) and granddaughter Jessica.

Joan graduated from Resurrection High School and later retired from the State of Michigan after working in the Department of Treasury. In her free time, she was an avid seamstress who enjoyed sewing and making quilts. Joan also enjoyed gardening and spent a lot of time maintaining her beautiful plants and flowers in her backyard. Her and her husband were known for hosting many Christmas parties and other events at theirs home, both at Magnolia and Knoll Cr, welcoming everyone. She was also known to enjoy shots of Patron with her children and grandchildren, those of age, and will always be remembered for her sarcasm and hilarious personality, which everyone loved her for.

Joan's warm presence and caring nature touched the lives of many, and she will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
