Jessie entered this world on September 15, 1949; he was born to the late Jessie L. Wallace Sr. and Helen Rosetta Wallace in Dania FL. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age; he was baptized and attended Dukes Temple Church in Florida. Jessie was educated in the Broward County Public School System and graduated from Attucks High School in Hollywood, FL. in 1968. After high school Jessie attended Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, FL. Jessie later enlisted in the United States Army commissioning at Fort Bragg, NC. He served our country as a medic during the Vietnam War for two years, receiving numerous medals. Jessie was honorably discharged in 1972. After completing his tour in Vietnam, Jessie relocated to Lansing, MI. In Michigan he gained employment with the Michigan Department of Transportation working with Aggregate Gradation for nearly 30 years.
Jessie married his wife, Sarah Bufford on November 8, 1986; she was his “One True Love”. They loved traveling, going on several cruises a year, visiting relatives around the United States and traveling internationally. In his later years Jessie became a member of New Jerusalem Church and faithfully served as a church van driver.
Jessie leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a genuine zest for life.
His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife of 37 years, Sarah; his children, Jessie Wallace III, Merria Wallace, Alvin (Michelle) Wallace, Sharese (Therris) Conney, and Jayson Holt; his 11 grandchildren; his 6 great grandchildren; step-mother, Ruth Wallace; brothers, Jeffrey (Bessie) Wallace and Hoarce Wallace; mother-in-law, Mary Bufford; sisters-in-law, Terri Bufford and Judy Templeton; brothers-in-law, Charles Milner and Charlie Bufford; adopted son Dominique (Caprice) Houston; special niece, Melissa Mitchell; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sunserrae; his parents; sisters, Joetta Bowers and Sue Milner; brothers, Samuel Wallace and Todd Miles.
He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
A military committal service for Jessie will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, Michigan 49012. Following the committal Service, a Celebration of Life will take place at Kingdom Ministries at 3000 W Miller Rd, Lansing, MI 48911
