James was born to Charles May and Judith Farr on February 22, 1967, in Flint, Michigan. Growing up, he called the city of East Lansing home, where he met many of his life long friends, proceeding to graduate from East Lansing High School in 1985. At a young age Jim was a gifted artist in many mediums. Throughout his life Jim was an avid sports fan, playing baseball during his high school years, backyard football, and acquiring an everlasting passion for the MSU Spartan sports teams. He was happiest when surrounded by friends and family.
James is preceded in death by his parents Charles May and Judith Nicklesen, as well as his stepfather, aunt, uncle, and grandparents. He is survived by his children Abigail and Ryan May; bonus children Addison Bennett and Amalia Ramirez, mother of his children Tonya Kantner May, brother Christopher Nicklesen, Uncle Bob Farr and Aunt Gloria Farr; cousins Kalli Dempsey, Katie Primeau (Brad), Josh Lawrence (Erica), and Jayme Lawrence Taylor (Jeff), along with many extended family and friends.
James was a kind, gentle and caring man who worked hard his entire adult life as a freight truck driver. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending his free time with his beloved Golden Retrievers and cat he called family over his adult life, most recently loving his two, four legged grand children. Most of all James cherished his family and friends; especially his children.
He will be greatly and deeply missed by all who have loved him throughout his life as a son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend, husband and especially those who called him father.
A memorial service for James will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023, at 12 pm, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 East Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48912. The service will be followed by a reception with family and friends.
