I went to elementary and middle school with Emily (and we lived around the corner from each other). I will always remember her for her beautiful bright blue eyes, million dollar smile and the birthmark on her forehead. (Lol quite the discussion for elementary age children.) Even though I hadn’t seen her in years news of her accident devastated me, just as news of her passing.  May the family find comfort and peace in her passing. Rest well Emily, your beautiful spirit will be missed. 

Emily and I were classmates in high school and I just heard of her passing this morning, and I am truly sorry for your loss and the loss felt by so many. As other classmates have said, she was an infectious person! She was kind, although her and I were not close friends, she treated people as equals and that is a special skill for someone as young as we were. She was an uplifting spirit in our school, even after her accident, she loved being a Warrior and it showed. She will be missed and I am glad and blessed to have had her in my life for the short time I did! We will all miss you. Rest in power, Emily!!

Emily and I (Rebecca Matz) attended middle/high school together, and had several classes together. Seeing this was hard and I’m sure you know what an impact she had on everyone she met. She was always kind to everyone, showed grace, smart, infectious smile and laugh, and so genuinely good. I remember her laughing with me bcuz we got a test back and we had to name 3-4 things plants needed to live and I couldn’t remember one so I wrote love - we laughed so hard bcuz the teacher said something. She was just a happy loving person and I’m terribly grateful to have known her and so sorry for your pain. I loved seeing the pictures- she’s still Emily and I can speak for her classmates even ones that didn’t hang out together after school she is thought about and has always stood out as something really rare and special even at our young ages.  

Emily, this is Matt Shipman your high school classmate from the class of 94. Hearing of your passing brought with it a range of emotions that I didn’t know were there. Yet, when I saw your beautiful picture I remembered it so vividly and so pointedly even though I had not seen it or seen you for almost 30 years. Your picture made me remember your beautiful light that brought into this world for me and so many of our classmates. Your picture made me remember your laughter very clearly too. May your light continue to shine brightly in all of our memories and may we always remember the sound of your laughter. 

To the family of Emily; may you find strength as you move through challenge and may you find each other to hold and uplift your memories of Emily and all of her love. Please know that so many people are holding you tight. 

Dear Beth, Alissa, and the rest of the family,

I am so very sorry for the loss of Emily. I’ve never seen a picture of her before and I loved looking through the ones you shared. She was so beautiful and it sounds like she was just as beautiful on the inside. What a fighter she was too. I’m happy for her now that she doesn’t have to fight or be in pain. She saved my life and kept me fighting for another day-til life turned itself around.

Beth you was amazing and gave it your all and Emily was blessed to have you as her mom.  
    Poem I wrote just after  accident that I sent to hospital:

Months have passed, even though it seems like yesterday when this all began.
I hold fast to the great moments we had and try to understand why this has happened to someone so special in everyones eye, until you find your way!"
