Ellen Lee Zimmerman

Ellen Lee Zimmerman, 82 passed away March 12, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was born December 13, 1937 to Nathan and Evelyn (Sine) Hartwell in Flint, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert, Irvin, and Russell Hartwell, and Gerald Wage; sisters, Janette Hartwell and Betty Wage; and son-in-law, Tim Mills. She is survived by her husband, Dale; three daughters, Kristine Ruth (Dave) Mathers, Jenelle Lorraine Mills, Karen Lee (Mark) Titcomb; son, David H.P. Zimmerman; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Ellen was a graduate of Adelphian Academy (1957) and attended Andrews University. She was a gifted cook and was employed by various school systems, and retired from 20 years of employment at Ingham Medical Hospital (McLaren) as a special diet cook in 2003. She loved cooking and baking cakes for her family and friends. Ellen's secret to happiness was friendship. She was persistent in nurturing friendships through the years by making and sending cards, phone calls and hosting gatherings where all were spoiled by her love of cooking. Ellen was a member of PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization) and attended South Church.

Memorial Service is 2:00 PM Thursday, September 10, 2020 at South Church, 5250 Cornerstone Dr., Lansing, MI 48917. Visitation will be 1-2 PM prior to the service.
