Charles J. Cecil, age 87, passed away April 9, 2016. He was born October 3, 1928 in Grand Rapids Michigan.
Charles is survived by his wife, Marjorie, daughters Diane Brandell and Kathy Urda (Steve) and son David Cecil (JoAnn). Also surviving are his 3 grandchildren Michael Brandell (Sarah), Malorie Urda and Christina Cecil (Adam).
Charles dearly loved his family and friends. He and Marge shared a lifetime of memories raising their family and traveling together. They especially enjoyed their many winters spent in California during retirement. His lunches with friends and coworkers, reunions with army buddies, golf outings and family gatherings meant a great deal to him and allowed him to stay in touch with the people he cared about.
In his last days, his grandchildren emailed him with memories of how he had provided unwavering support of their activities both in school and on the sports fields. Their message was, "You’ll always be in our thoughts and hearts. We will miss our time with you, but will always appreciate and remember the competitive fun and loving lessons you leave to us. You have given us some amazing experiences and we are the people we are because of you."
The family wishes to express their thanks to all of their friends for their support. Per Charles' wishes, his family will quietly celebrate his life. His memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
Friends are invited to make contributions to Interlochen Center for the Arts, 4000 Highway M-137, Interlochen, MI 49643, where Charles and Marge enjoyed many performances or Sparrow Hospice, 1210 W Saginaw St, Lansing, MI 48915, where the loving kindness and competence of the staff helped make Charles' last few days comfortable.
