Caleb Andrés Sandoval, born in Lansing, MI on March 28, 1977, was called home to be with the Lord on March 13, 2022 at the young age of 44. He is survived by his loving wife, Leanne Sandoval; sweet daughter, Charlotte, and twin boys who are due in June 2022; mother, Marcia (Churchill) Pletz; father, Rodolfo P. Sandoval; stepfather, William Frederick Pletz; stepmother, Cynthia Sandoval; stepsisters, Amanda (Chris) Schimke, Rebecca (Ryan) Harris, Amy (Mike) Will, America Perez, Chinita Perez; and stepbrother, Adam (Megan) Ray.
Caleb was a life-long Michigander and a 1995 Grand Ledge High School graduate. A proud Spartan, he graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2004. Caleb went on to excel at Western Michigan University’s Thomas M. Cooley Law School, earning his Juris Doctor in 2009. While there, he led many efforts to forward the interests of persons with disabilities. After a diverse and successful legal career, Caleb returned to MSU to follow his passion for advocating for those with disabilities. He spent the last six years as a dedicated team member of the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities while serving and positively impacting hundreds of students, employees, and colleagues across campus.
In his free time, Caleb loved to travel throughout our beautiful state and adored favorites like Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City Wine Country. He especially loved going on adventures, swimming, and spending time outdoors with his energetic and fun-loving daughter, Charlotte. As a proud alum of MSU Accafellas and Men's Glee Club, Caleb enjoyed singing and attending music concerts whenever he could. One of Caleb’s most memorable musical experiences was in April of 2009, when he proposed to Leanne while singing with the Accafellas.
Nothing was more important to Caleb than his family, friends, and faith. Caleb was a devoted husband, married to Leanne for almost 12 years. He was incredibly proud of being a father to his beautiful daughter Charlotte and looked forward with such joy to the arrival of his two sons in June. Caleb was a fun, supportive, and loyal friend. He had an energy, smile, and enthusiasm for life that truly set him apart. His welcoming presence was always felt and appreciated by those around him. He treated everyone he met with respect and was never too busy to be there for a friend in need. He profoundly impacted all who knew him. As a youth and young adult, Caleb belonged to Colonial Village Baptist Church. Most recently he was a member of Trinity Church where he was active in the children’s ministry. Caleb faithfully followed Christ and showed his love for the Lord by loving and serving others.
