Betty J. Abbott

Betty J. Abbott (Britten) was born on November 8, 1929 in Lansing, MI, the daughter of Martinus Judson and Gertrude Pearl (Christensen) Britten, and passed away October 3, 2017 at the age of 87. Betty liked bowling, crocheting and sand art. She loved to be at home spending time with family and never complained. Betty loved all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and was a guiding light for all the lives she touched. Wise, kind and told you like it was without pulling any punches.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Ethel I. Green; husband, Ralph Ernest Abbott; brothers, Martie, Dale, Albert and Donald Britten; and great granddaughter, Brittany Parsons. Surviving are 4 sons, Ralph (Jenifer) Abbott, Gregory (Tammie) Abbott, Christopher (Tracy) Abbott and Andrew (Amanda) Abbott; 5 daughters, Katherine McDowell, Deborah Abbott, Constance (Cordell) Reilly, Wendlyn (Gerald) Gibson and Michelle (Chris) Holmes; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and one sister, Corabell McDonald.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the chapel.
