The world is a little less bright today, as we regretfully share that Grandma passed away peacefully with family by her side on the evening of February 8, 2017, joining her sisters Carol, Kay, Shirley, and Irene, and her husband Vern.
Throughout and up to the very end of her life, Vera treasured her family, and whether she was known as sister, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Auntie Vera, or Mrs. C., she was an important part of so many lives. She will be forever lovingly remembered by her sons Grant (Sharon), Warren (Debbie), Gordon (Linda), and Gene (Lori); and her grand-children Brendan, Stuart (Misty), Taylor (Ashley), Kara (Nick), Kevin, Lee (Tara), Kimberley (Jason), Mathew (Mallory), Erin (Scott), and Andrew (Tania).
In each generation, Grandma’s most valued time was spent with the children, and she will be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren: Finn, Isla, Benjamin, Sophia, Joshua, William, Luke, Dylan, Dawson, and Emma. Vera is also survived by her sister Jean, her brother Jim, her sister-in-law Thelma, her brother-in-law Trevor (Cheryl), her long-time companion Eric, and dozens of nieces and nephews across generations. And as Grandma treasured her family, so will her family remember her: Christmas dinners, family gatherings on the Sunshine Coast, summers in Sicamous…Vera’s legacy will be one of love and laughter. Her quick wit, fresh baked buns, and sheer joy in spending time with the little ones in her life will be memories everlasting.
A celebration of this most full and rich life will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home in Langley, on Friday, February 24th, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, Donations can be made to the Parkinson Society British Columbia. True wealth is measured in the love of family and friends, and Vera was rich beyond measure.
Arrangements under the direction of Henderson's Langley Funeral Home, Langley, BC.
