We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss and passing of our forever and lovingly remembered daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Sandra Pauline Cooper-Jenkins, on December 2, 2023, in Langley, British Columbia.
Sandy was predeceased by her mother, Francis Cooper and her father, Milton Cooper. Sandy is survived by her brother, Richard Cooper, of Kitchener, Ontario, as well as nieces, nephews and many friends in both Ontario and British Columbia.
Born November 20, 1957, Sandy grew up in Toronto and went on to become a true pioneer, first as an owner/operator of a small trucking business and then as a bus driver in the mostly male dominated transportation industry. One of her fondest memories was when she chauffeured for Wolfman Jack.
After a trip to British Columbia, she fell in love with the beauty of the West Coast and decided to take up residence there. On June 6, 1984, she married Don Jenkins and helped raise, care for and love, two stepdaughters, Tammy and Tracey. She even learned sign language to communicate with Tammy.
Sandy would always say that we should watch our elders and learn from them, because once they’re gone, their knowledge goes with them unless you had taken advantage of their wisdom while they were alive and in turn, passed it onto others.
Even though Sandy, at times, had a bit of a rough life, she always had a kind heart and would ‘give you the shirt off her back’. She would say that “in the end, we are all beautiful stories”. Sandy will always be remembered fondly for her many achievements, adventures, and of course, her infectious laugh! She would want us all to remember that “it’s not about how long our life was, but rather, how enjoyable it was, that really matters”.
