Passed away peacefully on July 12. She is predeceased by her mother, Eileen Nichols. She is survived by father Zane Nichols, sister Kathy Nichols (Hilmar Schneider), brother Ken Nichols (Patricia), niece Jo-Anne Nichols and nephew Stephen Nichols as well as many relatives and friends.
Karen will be greatly missed for her infectious smile and laughter. She lived for today and didn’t let her illness prevent her from experiencing life. Some of her favourite activities were coffee with friends, plays, movies, card games, the “Young and Restless” soap opera, concerts and Chinese food.
She absolutely loved going to the PNE with her mother year after year. They would try and visit every day the fair was open. Some of her prized souvenirs were signed pictures of the Global News crew. Just as popular with her was any event that had fireworks. Her camera is filled with (mostly blurry) pictures of all the fireworks shows she watched.
After the relapse of her MS, she was not able to work anymore. She found much joy and comfort in volunteering at St. Michaels Centre in Burnaby. She had been a volunteer for just over 20 years when her mobility decreased to the point where she was no longer able to attend.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the MS Society or Canadian Red Cross. To everyone that has send in a donation, we thank you for your generosity and hope that someday there is a cure or better management of this disease.
Arrangements under the direction of Henderson's Langley Funeral Home, Langley, BC.
