Laura Mae (Wilkes) Hunt, 75 of Lancaster peacefully entered the arms of Jesus surrounded by her family at The Pickering House on May 9, 2024, following a courageous battle with ALS and Parkinsons disease. She was born in Lancaster on October 16, 1948, to the late Lewis and Helen (Stewart) Wilkes. Laura graduated from Sheridan High School in 1966 where she was a majorette. After graduating high school, she went to work as a secretary at Anchor Hocking, where she met the love of her life Wilford “Bud” Hunt. They were married in June of 1971. They lived in Heidelberg, Germany where they welcomed their first son, Christopher Lee who precedes her in death. Laura was also preceded in death by her brother Bradley Wilkes and 3 infant sisters, mother -in law and father in law Russell and Mabel Hunt, brother in law Marshall Hunt and sister in law Carole (Dave) Alley who she will meet in Heaven. Laura spent her adult life loving and caring for others. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She is survived by her Husband of 52 years, Wilford Hunt; children Curtis (Heather) Hunt, Celeste (Jeremy) Miller and Carrie (Hallie) Clarke. She was the grandmother to 9 beautiful grandchildren whom she loved and adored. Keith, Katie, Eli, Corinne, Lydia, John, Dominic, Savannah, and Isaiah. Laura is also survived by sister Sharon Wilkes, brother Jeffrey Wilkes, brothers in law Dave (Phyllis) Hunt, Jeff (Lou Ann) Hunt, sister in law, Becky Wilkes and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family may visit on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 and 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Halteman-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to the ALS United Ohio or to Fairhope Hospice-Pickering House.
