Lola “Jayne” Brook, loving wife, mother and grandma, passed away on September 28th, 2022 at 88 in Lancaster, OH. Jayne was born in Cane, PA to Lucille and Charles Struble. She received her bachelors in business from Albany State Teachers College. Her career in teaching spanned close to 5 decades and included substituting in Lancaster Public Schools, teaching business classes at Ohio University - Lancaster and substituting at the career center. Her greatest passion was being a college administrator for Ohio University at Southeastern Correctional for 10 years. She was very proud of this and felt she made a difference in many lives. Jayne was very involved in her community and church. She was a member of Twig, Parent’s League, and Arts & Civics clubs as well as an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church. Through her connections with First Presbyterian Church and Southeastern Correctional, Jayne worked to build the Wings Program at the prison. Jayne loved spending time with family and friends, gardening, reading, and needlepoint. Her passion for needlework led to her opening Jayne’s Needlework Nook which she owned and operated for 10 years.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Lucille Struble.
Jayne is survived by her loving husband of 65 years William “Bill” Brook, children Gretchen (Phill) Heckman and Chris (Amy) Brook and her grandchildren Meghan, Jake, Benjamin, and Andrew.
The family will receive friends and family on Monday October 3rd, 2022 from 5-7pm at Halteman-Fett-Dyer Funeral Home. Funeral will be held 3:00pm Tuesday October 4th, 2022 at Halteman-Fett-Dyer Funeral Home.
