Helen Louise (Azbell) Jackson, Age 73, was called to be home with the Lord Tuesday, August 13, 2013. She was surrounded by her loving family. Helen was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a caring grandmother.
Helen was born on December 29, 1939 to Ralph and Grace Azbell. She was raised in Lancaster, Ohio. Helen provided 20 years of service to Lancaster City Schools as a chef, where she graciously served many youngsters. Helen enjoyed baking, crocheting, celebrating holidays, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ, where she and her daughter planned many Sunday school lessons. Helen also volunteered in the church nursery.
Helen is survived by two sons, Andrew (Hyon) Jackson, of Fayetteville, N.C., Bob (Jennifer) Jackson of Lancaster; two daughters, Sherry (Mike) Sullivan of Lancaster, and Grace (James) Pang of Lancaster; one brother, Jack (Marilyn) Azbell of Marengo; two sister-in-laws, Buella Streng and JoAnn Burgoon; 6 grandchildren, Crystal, Holly, Hannah, Robert, Victoria, and Jonathan; and 2 great-grandchildren, David and Makayla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Andrew; brothers, Floyd and Bob; and sisters, Anna, Betty, Joette, and Rose.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Haltemann-Fett & Dyer Funeral Home. Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Dennis Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Andrew Murray and Dr. Thomas Vajen, as well as FairHope Hospice Nursing Staff members, Cassie, Amy, Karen, Teresa, Billie, and Ed, and aides, Kim, Sam, Lisa, and Leah.
