Born May 17, 1950, in Huron, South Dakota. Passed away March 20, 2011, in Lancaster, California. He was the first born son of Cecil and Mavis, Steve grew up in the Antelope Valley where his father established his Lancaster Sales yard Auction. After service in the United States Army he joined his father in the auctioneering business, where Along with his brothers, son and nephews established a reputation in the auction industry as one of the most respected auction families in California. Though he never realized his lifelong dream of pitching a no hitter in the major leagues, he served in the dugout, coaching hundreds of children and teenagers through youth baseball for 23 years. He was true to the Dodgers win or lose, and looked forward to the opening of baseball season along with trips with his brothers for Spring Training. He witnessed the Yankees play their final season at Yankee Stadium in New York. Steve had perfected the are of the poker face, using the skills to advance in Texas Hold 'Em Tournament Play at the World Series of Poker. Commerce Casino and Diamond Jims. Tirelessly devoted to his family and friends, Steve was the first to provide his advice and his heart in support of those who needed him. His passion was ever present in all aspects of his life and continues in the memories of those who were touched by him. Survived by his wife Susan Metter, son Clinton Metter of Palmdale, Calif., daughters Michelle Metter ( Michael Hill) of San Diego, Calif.,Courtney Metter of Eugene Ord., grandchildren Ebangeline Dubel and Samantha Mette, brothers Rodney Keith David Michael, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 1.p.m. at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Chapel. Services will be held at 2 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Master, 725 East Avenue J., Lancaster, Burial will follow services at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster, all on Saturday, March 26, 2011, In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Steve's name be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
