Laurie was born in Miles City, Montana on October 26, 1956 to Marjorie E. Wright (born Blanche Halvari) and Laurence N. Shipp. As a child, she attended school in Terry, Montana and then moved to Miles City. Laurie continued her education by attending Montana State University, Billing (formerly known as Eastern Montana College), where she earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education. While in college, she found the love of her life and began her union with Mike W. Green on August 12, 1978. From this blessed union, three wonderful children were born, one son, Shawn, and two daughters, Shereen and Jaime Joy. Living in Billings, she raised her family while completing her education and working in a variety of educational settings from high school to preschool. The family moved to Lancaster, California in 1989, where she continued her passion of supporting special needs children and families, as a Special Education Teacher. In the later years of her career, she began teaching kindergarten. After 30+ years in education, she retired to travel and enjoy her family. In her spare time, Laurie treasured making memories with her grandbabies, traveling with family, going on weekend or day trips with her friends, reading, Disney trips, going out to eat at restaurants, and increasing her collection of angels and gingerbread people. She will be remembered as a loving, selfless, positive, and sweet souled woman.
Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie E. Wright and Laurence N. Shipp. Her beautiful life will be remembered by her husband, Mike W. Green; her children Shawn Green, Shereen Green (Michael Oke), and Jaime Joy Green; grandchildren Brandon Oke, Donovan Oke, Constance Oke, Hannah Oke, and Daphne Green; and her siblings Marla (Mark) Rosengren, Gregory Shipp (Kei Okushi), and John (Venetta) Wood.
A funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Lancaster, California on December 3rd, 2022 at two o’clock in the afternoon.
