Jenniffer Smith was born on December 1st, 1968 to Lorean Smith in Vicksburg, MS as her only child. The family moved to Los Angeles, California on December 2nd, 1969 where she graduated from Fremont High School in 1986. Soon after, Jenniffer enrolled in California State University - Dominguez Hills in the fall of 1986. After re-focusing her career aspirations, she enrolled at Los Angeles City College and graduated with her Associate of Arts in Child Development in June 1991.
Jenniffer has always been dedicated to serving the youth. She spent almost 27 years as an early education educator with LAUSD. Primarily, she served as a teacher’s aide at Hooper Early Educational Center in Los Angeles. Her love for children extended outside of the classroom too. As a member of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, she served as both the Sunday School Director and Youth Director, working directly with the church’s youth in both capacities.
In 2012, both Jenniffer and Lorean moved to Lancaster, California. While in Lancaster, Jenniffer continued her dedicated service to our youth by serving as an early education aide and pre-school teacher for several schools in the area. At the time of her passing, she was an in-home educator & caretaker for six young children. Her ultimate dream was to open a group home for teenage girls.
Her love for Christ did not stop when she left Los Angeles either. She became a member of Living Praise Christian Church in Palmdale, CA. As a member, she served in the PromiseLand Children’s Ministry, Special Events Team Hospitality, Women’s Ministry Online Support and the iServe My Community Outreach. Jenniffer was growing into her own in her walk with Christ and was a faithful servant up until her passing. Outside of the church and her love of children she loved fashion, cooking and going to the movies.
On August 1, 2023, God called Jenniffer home to be with her Lord & Savior. She fought the good fight and stayed strong throughout the host of challenges presented to her over the past few years. She leaves behind her only son, DaVeon Smith of San Antonio, TX; her mother Lorean Smith of Glendale, CA and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones. Jenniffer will be remembered as an amazing mother, daughter, friend and soul.
