Carol Ann Whitaker

Our loving mother, grandmother and friend, Carol Ann Whitaker, age 71, returned to her heavenly home on November 7, 2022 in Lancaster, California, surrounded by family and loved ones. Carol has been a resident of the Antelope Valley since 1982. She was born Carol Ann Goodale on November 9, 1950, in Peoria, Illinois to Earl Melvin Goodale and Margaret Elizabeth McIlwaine. Her family moved to California in 1955 to look for employment opportunities. She later met, fell in love and married Gregory Marshall Whitaker on March 28, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She and her husband had three wonderful sons and four beautiful grandchildren, whom Carol absolutely adored. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from California State University Northridge and worked for 30 years as a Physical Therapist at Antelope Valley Hospital. Carol was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved serving in the church in many capacities, with her most recent calling as a Relief Society President. Her faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement brought her enduring comfort during heart-rending trials and was the driving force behind her desire to lift and bless others. To know Carol was to love Carol. She never let an opportunity pass without expressing her love and gratitude. She was incredibly selfless, patient, endlessly positive and looked for the good in everyone. Preceding her in death are Carol’s parents, her husband Greg, her son Cody Gregg, daughter-in-law Rochelle “Shelly” Carroll and granddaughter, Coraline Rose. Carol is survived by her brother Scott Goodale (Melinda), and loving sons, Shane Marshall Whitaker (Halee), Tyler James Whitaker and grandsons, Austin Marshall, Dylan Jerry and Jaxon Shane.

A funeral service for Carol will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3134 West Avenue K, Lancaster, CA 93536. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service for close friends and family from 2:30pm to 3:00pm at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, 808 East Lancaster Blvd., Lancaster CA 93535
