Andrew Payton was born February 18th, 1951 in Compton California to Arlester Willie and Jennette Payton who preceded him in death. He was the 4th of 6 children-- Jean Ruth, Arlester, Roy, Barbara Jean and Allen.
He graduated from Compton Senior High School in 1969 where he then was united in marriage on April 2nd, 1972 to the love of his life, Janice Whitaker. In that union they had two boys, Tyrone and Jerome.
Andrew had a love for the Lord at an early age and was baptized at St. James Baptist church in Long Beach. He later then joined Christ Mission Church where he was elected as a Deacon of the church and served faithfully. Andrew received Superintendent of Sunday School because of his unselfish devotion and distinguished service as well as 10 plaques for each time he read through the bible. He joined Greater Ephesians Baptist Church where he was ordained Deacon. Andrew was very devoted to his spiritual growth and Christian faith and used his time to bring others to the Lord.
Andrew worked diligently as an eligibility worker for the county for 45 years. During that time, he was very passionate about his work yet continued to work for the Lord and spread the word to everyone that crossed his path. He then retired in 2016 where he then spent his time traveling with his wife.
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 48 years, Janice Payton. His two sons to carry his legacy, Jerome and Tyrone Payton along with his daughter-in-law Kristin. His three grandchildren, Mariah, Kayla and Malik. As well as his first great granddaughter Romie. & a host of many family and friends, and friends who are like family! Andrew was much loved and will be missed by many!
