Psalm 37:23 Thomas Francis Ivey, Sr. was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, on December 26, 1943, to the union of Fred Ivey, Sr. and Sarah Tripplet Ivey. Thomas was nurtured in a close loving home with five brothers and two sisters. He was baptized at an early age accepting Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Thomas attended school in Chester, Pennsylvania and was a proud member of the class of 1963. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964, where he traveled the world, one of the many cities being Galveston, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life Patricia Ann Johnson on January 6, 1966. In 1969 Thomas left the United States Navy with an honorable discharge. He returned to Chester, Pa., his family later joined him. Thomas was employed at the U.S. Rubber Co. after four and a half years the family returned to Galveston, TX. In 1980 the family moved to La Marque, TX . He united with the Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor D. N. Benford, Sr. Thomas was dedicated to many ministries within the church, including the Usher Board #2, Trustee Board, Van Driver , Hospitality Committee and Church custodian until his health failed. Thomas had a strong work ethic he retired from Savage Sulphur Co. formerly known as Duval Sulphur Co., located in Galveston. He had a die-hard and true love for the Dallas Cowboys. He was employed by La Marque School District as a Bus Driver for a short time. On November 10, 2012 at 1:15 a.m. God said, "Thomas your work on earth is finished." He sent His angels to reclaim His child. Upon his heavenly arrival he was welcomed by his parents, Fred and Sarah Ivey, brothers; Fred, Mark, Clarence, Phillip and William, children; Thomas Jr. and La Nita. Thomas' memories will forever be in the hearts of his loving family. His loving wife of 46 years, Patricia Ann Ivey, four daughters, Sarah Washington of Texas City, Beverly Jones (Morise) of Webster, Gayla Sallies (Jeff) of Texas City and Patty Miller (Tondrick) of Pearland, Texas; sisters, Ruth Brewington of Philadelphia, Sarah Foxworth of Chester, PA.; grandchildren, Derrick, Michelle, Kisha, Monique, Roniesha, Jermaine, Ashley, Angelica, LaKeytta, Jaquita, Tekiya and Marquec; great-grandchildren; Thomas, Peddis, Lil Derrick, Jr., Patton, Jayla, Derricken, Jeremiah, Lawriona, Zerrick, Genies, Nivea, Rodney and Kaiya; God- daughters, Liz Raffeet, Jacklyn Harris; special nieces, Beverly Turner of Los Angeles, Evonne Tompkin (Marion) of La Marque, Texas and Quinette Smith; best friends, Charles Walker, Mack Gordon and Profit Kayle; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church members.
