William A. Koenig, age 66, of Manchester, passed away Sunday at the Meridian Nursing & Rehab. Center in Brick, NJ. Born in Summit, NJ, he was a former resident of California, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, and McGuire A.F.B., NJ, before relocating to Manchester in 1977. William previously served in the US Air Force. Upon discharge, he was employed with AT&T in Murray Hill, NJ until retirement. He was a member of Am-Vets and the American Legion. William was a collector of N-Gauge Trains and collected odd denomination currency and coins, known by him as “funny money.” He was a private pilot who loved flying “into the wild blue yonder.” Son of the late Agnes (Orr) and August Koenig, he is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Barbara (Biddle) Koenig; 2 daughters, Joyce Koenig of Manchester and Carolyn Parker and her husband Randy of Ocean Gate, NJ; a sister, Kathleen Crammer and her husband Vernon; 3 grandchildren, Steven, Ruth, and Scott; and a great-granddaughter Kristiana. Relatives and friends will be received at the D’Elia Funeral Home, Route 70 & Vermont Ave., Lakewood, NJ 08701 on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. immediately followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Committal services will follow in the NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
