passed away peacefully in Lakewood NJ on Friday, October 30,
2020, with her daughter and son by her side.
Midge was the daughter of Raymond F. Rogers and Mary (Farmilette)
Rogers. She was proud of her many years of teaching ESL to foreign
students at Haworth Elementary School in NJ. One of her greatest
joys in life came from her love of music. She became an
accomplished pianist, organist and much to our surprise, played the
double bass in the orchestra at Immaculata University in Malvern PA!
She had a keen eye for decorating and loved being surrounded by
beautiful things. Her hobbies included playing golf, flower arranging,
knitting, and needlepoint. Mary Jane was always impeccably dressed
and was never seen without her well polished nails or red lipstick!
She and her husband, Wally, loved spending time with their only
grandchild, Alyssa, on countless holidays and outings. One of the
greatest highlights of her year was enjoying over 60 years of summer
vacations with her family on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee in
Center Harbor NH.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughter Lynne Chiarello and husband
James Livermore, son Stephen Chiarello, and granddaughter Alyssa
Livermore.
She is predeceased by her husband Walter M. Powers (married
1972-2013) and Stephen G. Chiarello (married1956-1970). Her
brother, Raymond Rogers and sister Rosalie Lebson.
Mary Jane leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins,
sisters-in-law, and close lifelong childhood friends.
Mary Jane found great solice throughout her life through prayer to
God and her mother. May her soul now rest in peace.
There will be no wake, and a funeral service limited to 25 people with
masks.
