Jean Ann (Patmore) McDevitt, 89, was born on June 30, 1933, to Russell and Anna Patmore in Bayonne, NJ. She also resided in Port Reading, NJ, Lakewood, NJ, and finally in Barnegat NJ, where she passed peacefully at home. She attended, Bayonne High School, and later in life Middlesex County College. Jean was an avid reader and so it was most fitting that she began working in the Main Branch of the Woodbridge Library. She retired after 25 years as the Supervising Library Assistant, and served as President of the NJALA from 1997-1998 She is predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband of 65 years, Charles G. McDevitt Sr, by her mother Anna, and her father Russell Patmore. She is survived by her sister Anne Tosato, brother Melvin Patmore and his wife Beth, and sister Martha Strauss and husband Edward. She is also survived by seven children, her sons, Charles Jr. and wife Amy, John, William and wife Anne, Robert and wife Roberta, Michael and wife Mary and daughters Nancy Scherer and husband Richard, and Kathleen Kuch. She is also survived by twelve Grandchildren, Christopher, CJ, Kyle, Lauren, Tom, Brian, Shawn, David, Matthew, Jason, Katie, and Kelly. She is also survived by six Great Grandchildren, Brooke, Hunter, Georgina, Charlie, Lily, and Ben. There will be a Memorial Mass (no wake) at St. Dominic's Church at 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, NJ at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, August 4. Followed by a repast at McLoone’s at 1200 Ocean Ave, Asbury Park. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital are requested.
