Jim was predeceased by parents, Edward and Gladys; brother, Edward; and son, Jimmy.
He is survived by brother, Joseph; sisters Blanche Rea and Carol; daughter Lisa Smith (Steve); best friend, Mike Mooney (Debby); nieces Maryann Villegas (Adrian), Dana Applegate (Keith), Alicia Longo (Sean), and Colleen Newschwander; nephews Edward Stephanick and Billy Rea; grandson Cody Smith, his sister in law Regina and several great nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.
He faithfully served 35 years with the Lakewood Police Department, retiring in 2003 as Captain. Jim also served our nation in the U.S. Air Force, including the Vietnam War and Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was a gifted photographer and showcased his work in several galleries throughout his life. Jim was an avid golfer, loved fast cars, boats, music, and traveling; and adored his late cats, Moet and Tackhammer.
Visitation will be March 7th, 4-8pm at D’Elia Funeral Home located at 1300 Vermont Ave, Lakewood, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated March 8th,10:30 am at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 43 Madison Ave, Lakewood, NJ; followed by a military ceremony and interment at Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ.
